Apple sent an automatic update for Macs, iPads and iPhones which interferes with sending messages for some users. A quick fix for this problem is to turn off outgoing SSL and change outgoing port number from 465 to 587.

How to update
For Mac Desktop: Click the Apple menu in the top left-hand corner of your Mac and choose System Preferences. Click Software Update, which should be on the bottom left half of the window, and if you have an update available, click Update Now.
For iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch: Tap the Setting application, and navigate to General, and then Software Update. If you have a software update available, tap Download and Install
